A cloisonne gold-splashed incense tool vase
An unusual cloisonné vase of squared tapering form with circular trumpet neck, squared flaring foot and with six registers of floral decoration. Typical of the style used for incense tools. Unusual features of this piece include the mythical animal head handles and gold-splashed body ornamentation. There is a mark to the base which looks like it may have been Quianlong although, in our view, this is most probably 19th century.
