Exquisite small copper lion dog

An exquisitely modelled, small cast copper Chinese lion dog, a dog of fo. Probably 20th century but displaying all the traditional characteristics of fierce expression, large eyes, wide mouth, negroid nostrils, bushy tail, and curly locks of hair to the legs. The feathering of the legs and tail indicated by spiral devices is typical of the Buddhist lion, later known as the Dog of Fo.
